Help us pray for my dad…

Posted by: gracelack | February 5, 2009 |

My praying family and friends,

Please include my dad in your prayers. Unable to stand and walk due to swelling and severe pain in his right foot, he arrived in Cebu from Saudi Arabia on January 24th. He’s been struggling with diabetes for years and now he’s advised by SA doctors to undergo peripheral bypass surgery. It’s a procedure done to re-route blood flow from a blocked artery to another.

He was admitted to Cebu Community Hospital Tuesday, Jan. 27th but per the doctors’ assessment, a peripheral bypass surgery is not recommended in his case. Instead, they are recommending leg amputation. He refuses amputation as he has great faith that God will heal him. He is claiming healing from God by Friday (Feb. 6th). If he doesn’t get the healing he prayed and asked for, he will agree to amputation.

All our church pastors and a lot of our brothers and sisters in the Lord have come to the hospital and prayed over him. We are waiting for a miracle to happen but Thy will be done.

Please pray for wisdom for my father’s attending doctors, comfort and peace of mind for my dad and financial provisions. His hospitalization, medication and possible surgery is and will be costly but we are trusting that God will provide all his needs according to His riches and glory.

I’m sorry to hear about your father. I know how that feels. My father had his leg amputation Aug 2008.

Here are my advise:

1) Find him good doctors. Orthopedic (for amputation), Cardiologist, Internal Medicine (for diabetic management)

2) Get 2nd opinion on everything. Doctors won’t mind. Get an opinion from a Cardio-vascular doctor regarding the peripheral surgery. I always get 2nd opinions for both my Mom and Dad (3 opinions, actually)

3) If he has peripheral artery disease, then chances are, he has heart problems as well. Consult his Cardiologist and while in the hospital, might as well do all the test.

Peripheral artery surgery is bypass procedure, but commonly done in the leg. It’s like a heartbypass - but only in the leg. It’s more expensive than leg amputation.

4) Transfer him to Chonghua, they have the best medical equipments in Cebu. They’re up to par with int’l standards now, infact, their test results can already be accepted by any hosp here in the US. Mao pud lagi, mas mahal kay sa community. Budget a minimum of Php 60,000 for the amputation (maybe lesser in Community).

5) Buy your father’s medications from outside the hospital. The nurses agree to this arrangement. Have them give you the prescription everyday for each day; then your siblings can get the drugs from Mercury Drug (or other pharmacy) which will cost half of what the hospital will charge.

6) If you do the amputation… have your blood donors already line up. You will be required 2-bags at least as a standby during the surgery. If you buy the blood from the hosp blood bank, it’ll cost you from Php 5,000-8,000 each bag.

I, too, believe that God can heal and is miraculous. But sometimes, we may not realize that God can use doctors to answer our prayers. This is what I consider a modern-day miracle. Don’t limit God. Being alive is a miracle in itself.

I will pray for your father. God bless you.

i’m sorry for what happened to your papa grace, i will include him everynight in my prayers he would be fine just have faith to the lord.. take care and your family God bless you
